What can I expect at an appointment?
When you arrive at St Johns Podiatry & Wound Care Specialists, the staff will greet you and seat you at the waiting room. We will then bring you back into a treatment room for evaluation and will verify with you any symptoms, and medical history, to prepare you for your visit with Dr. Black.
What happens if I am a new patient?
You may have found us online, referred us by another specialist or from your Health Insurance carrier. We will discuss your problem and ask about your medical history. A thorough examination will then follow. We may request examinations and tests to assist and support our diagnosis. Please make sure that your New Patient paperwork is completed prior to your appointment or plan to arrive 15 min early to complete in office.
If you have previous examinations and tests related to your current condition, please bring those along to the consultation.
Do you have Imaging (X-rays, Ultrasound, MRI/ CT) facilities?
Yes.
We have in office Diagnostic Ultrasound to help diagnose soft tissue, vascular and other structural deformities and issues. We work closely with area imaging centers for convenience in obtaining X-ray, MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging). and other more complex studies.
Do you examine children at your clinic?
Yes.
We routinely handle pediatric podiatry cases.
What happens if I need an intramuscular or joint injection?
Certain cases require injections to reduce inflammation and deliver immediate pain relief. These can include anti-inflammatories, local anesthesia or steroids.
What happens if I need a prescription?
We may prescribe for example analgesia, anti-inflammatory or antibiotic treatment for your condition. We can electronically prescribe non narcotic medications for pickup your local pharmacy. Please let us know in case you have any allergy or other medical condition.
If you have already been taking drugs prescribed by your home doctor, please bring them with you for clarification or possible drug interactions and correlations with the new condition.

Dr. Black accepts Medicare, Blue Medicare, Blue Advantage, Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO Plans, Cigna OAP, Cigna PPO, United Healthcare PPO, HMO, and Advantage Plans.
